Recent Success!
Well done to Tadhg McHugh on finishing in 3rdplace in the Carlow Cross Country event recently; an outstanding achievement for someone who doesn’t run competitively. Well done also to Robbie Buckley who will be representing Ireland in the world go-kart racing finals X30 class in Le Mans (France) next week. Go Robbie. Beidh sé ag taisteal ar nós na gaoithe! Finally, congratulations to the boys footballers who have made it through to the Cumann na mBunscol Roinn 2 final this year. The final is very likely to be on Thursday, 24thOctober. Details to follow when confirmed. They have played with great skill and determination but most of all have made a fine team. And they have one more match to win! Go n-éirí libh a bhuachaillí.

Opening Hours
The school opens to receive pupils each day at 9:15 a.m. No responsibility is accepted by the Board of Management for pupils arriving before 9 a.m. Classes end each day at 3 p.m. (2 p.m. for Junior & Senior Infants). If a child is finishing at that time and being collected, parents should make their own arrangements for this and the person collecting them should be at the school not later than 3 p.m. (2 p.m. for Infants). The Board cannot accept responsibility for the children after that time. On the rare occasion where the person collecting has been unavoidably delayed, please let us know. Thank you for your cooperation and for your patience with regard to parking at the school.

Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine
Táimid ag déanamh iarracht níos mó Gaeilge a úsáid i rith an lae. We’re trying to use a little more Irish during the school day. Rinne na páistí sár-iarracht an bhliain seo chaite. The children made a great effort last year and we are continuing our efforts this year. Bainigí triail as!

Rugby and basketball coaching are ongoing with football and hurling coaching also taking place during the year. A big thanks to our coaches and all those who help out.

Nut Allergies
A number of children in the school have an allergic reaction to nuts. Since this condition can be life threatening, all teachers are asking for your help in minimising the risk to these children by:
1.Avoiding giving children nuts in school lunches;
2. Avoiding giving peanut butter sandwiches, other spreads containing nuts such as Nutella and other products labelled “may contain nut traces” in school lunches;
3. Asking children notto share their lunches.

Due to the severity of the problem, it is important that all parents carry out the suggested measures and reduce the risk of allergic reaction to these children.

Thank you very much for your co-operation.

Photographs
On occasion children will be photographed in relation to school activities. Many of these photographs will appear on the school website, but sometimes the photographs may be taken by newspapers covering sports events, new infants in school, panto, etc. It is now common practice that only the child’s first name is used, if any. In the last few years our parents association has produced a calendar of the different class groups which has been very popular. Please let us know if you have any concerns about this issue. Please also see the school’s annually reviewed Child Safeguarding Statement on the school website (address below).
