Today we learned about Christopher Columbus (1451-1506). He was an Italian explorer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, hoping to find a route to India (in order to trade for spices). He made a total of four trips to the Caribbean and South America during the years 1492-1504. here are some pictures of the Pinta, the Santa Maria, the Nina and one showing Christopher Columbus standing on board with the Spanish Flag.

Second Green Flag – Energy

We received confirmation that our school has been awarded the second Green Flag (energy). This is fantastic news and a tribute not only to the Green Schools committee led by Mrs. Mac Glinchey but to all the staff and pupils of the school – a team effort!

Green flags are awarded after a strict assessment process and for the energy flag much of the work goes on “behind the scenes”. On the assessment day the children on the committee were “interviewed” by the An Taisce representative and Mrs. Mac Glinchey described our children’s contribution as “fantastic”!
