Car Park Safety –  September 2015

Last year we sent out a note about safety in and around the car park area.  We would like to remind you what is needed to keep ‘your’ children safe.

 Morning:

If you need to leave your car – use a parking bay.  “Drop-off” means “drop-off”.  DO NOT USE THE STAFF CAR PARK.

Afternoon:

  1. Do not double park at any time. This is the most common and most dangerous problem.

  1. Do not take short cuts across traffic on foot. Use pedestrian crossings and give good example to your children.

  1. Do not park near or obstruct pedestrian crossings.

  1. At 3pm – use the overflow car park (Junior Play Area). You will not be “trapped”.  The traffic moves freely and there is good shelter along the front of the school if it is wet.

  1. Parking near the main gate should be outside on the left facing away from the school.

Remember:

  1. You are on school grounds – Drive Slowly and expect the unexpected.

  1. If possible, reverse in – drive out.

  1. If you are sending someone to collect your children, explain the rules to them.

Ballylinan Girls v Emo

2-2;  4-12

Yesterday at 1.15pm a tough match between Ballylinan and Emo girls took place. Ballylinan girls were slow off the starting line, with Emo scoring the first few points of the match. Without goalkeeper Niamh Lavelle (woman of the match), there would have been no hope. With a few brilliant saves, she kept the game going and made a comeback seem less impossible.

With a great team talk from coach Ms Farrell, our spirits were lifted even though one of our star players Niamh Kaye had to be taken off by our second coach Ms Hayden, due to an ankle injury.

We started the second half with much more confidence and made a great come-back, scoring two quick goals and a few points.   A great overall battle from the Ballylinan Girls and with some work we should hopefully come back with a win next time.

Today was the opening match of the Ballyinan’s Cuman na mBunscol campaign. They played a competitive Clough Team. Ballylinan started the match well, taking the lead nearly right away. Patrick Julian started the team off with a great goal after a pass from Lochlann Kelleher. He ended up scoring two more goals later in the match which gave him a well- deserved hat- trick.

Ballylinan played superbly as a team. It was a quick and fast paced match, with great passing and shots. They worked together very well. There were also scores from team Captain Micheal Downey, Lochlann Kelleher, Ryan Brady, Ciaran Cronin and Fergal Murphy. The substitutes also contributed to the final result. Josh McDonald played well throughout and got the Man of the Match award.

Ballylinan will play Knock in the next match.
