Members of our Green Schools Committee travelled to Athlone last Thursday to receive our 3rd green flag (water). The flag will be presented to the children at the ceremony for the official opening of the school on June 12th at 2 pm.

The H.S.E. will visit the school on Friday June 6th and 13th. It will involve children from Senior Infants, 6th Classes and any children who have joined us this year from other schools.

Saturday evening mass at 7pm is particularly for 4th class. We are hoping that as many children/families as possible will be able to attend.
Well done to our Junior Infants who finished their swimming lessons today. This was the first year our Junior Infants went swimming and it was a great success. The pool staff said the children were a “joy” to deal with! The group “diverted” to the playground on the way home, so a busy morning all round. Photographs from the playground will be available on the school website. Thanks to the “support” team!

Irish Shuriken Jutsu Federation – Grand Master Daniel Rooney and Sensei Paul Starrs would like to congratulate their students on their recent grading in yellow, orange and green belts. New students and past students are always welcome. Training is now at the new time of 6.15 pm to 8.15 pm, Thursdays at St. Anne’s Hall, Ballylinan. At the request of students, training will continue during the summer months.

FIRST EUCHARIST: Congratulations to the children from 2nd Class who received their First Holy Communion on Sunday.  We were very proud of all the children, as I’m sure their parents were.  It was a beautiful ceremony and a tribute to all concerned. It was very much a team effort from the school to make the day special.  Our thanks to Ms. Cotter and Ms. Brennan for all their work with the children.  To Mrs. Browne for preparing the choir and the children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes who sang beautifully on the day.  To Mrs. Kenna, Mrs. Kehoe and Mrs. Moore for all their labours and to the teachers who helped out in so many different ways.  It is days like these that the children will remember for the rest of their lives.
SCHOOL CLOSURE: The school will be closed on Friday May 23rd to facilitate the Local and European Elections.
FOOTBALL ACHIEVEMENT: Congratulations to Adam Lynskey (6th class) who will represent Laois in an inter-county blitz to be held in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny on Thursday.
