NEWSLETTER 28/08/14

Welcome back to everyone and a special word of welcome to our new junior infants and children who have joined us up through the school.

ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE:
The system in place for children arriving to school is working very well.
Children should not be in school before 9 a.m.
9.15 a.m. -FIRST BELL – CHILDREN BROUGHT TO CLASS BY TEACHER.
9.20 a.m. –SECOND BELL – SCHOOL OFFICIALLY BEGINS.
* All children enter by the Back Door.
* Children arriving late should also enter by the back door (not many we hope!)
* Departure time (particularly 3 p.m.) can be ‘busy’ and we ask for people’s patience and understanding for that 5 – 10 minute period.
* Parking Outside the main gates should only be on the left facing away from the school. No parking facing towards the school.

BOOK BILLS / SCHOOL CONTRIBUTION:
Thanks to everyone who has paid. We have endeavoured through the rental scheme to keep costs as low as possible. The school contribution also includes personal accident insurance (24 hour/365 days for all children through Allianz) so we would appreciate payment as soon as possible. Please enclose the correct amount of money in the envelope provided. Fill in the details and return to the class teachers. One envelope per child.

BOOK GRANT:
Families who qualify for the Back to School Clothing Allowance also qualify for the Book Grant. Please let us know if you are eligible.

NEW STAFF:
Welcome to Ms. Lynn Cunningham (3rd/4th) who joined the staff over the summer. Ms. Cunningham was teaching in Arles and Tullow (Co. Carlow) last year. We also welcome back Ms. Hayden and Ms. Farrell. Ms. Farrell will be replacing Mrs. Morris who unfortunately is unwell at present. We send Mrs. Morris our prayers and our good wishes for a speedy recovery.

CONGRATULATIONS:
The new teacher in Room 7 is not a new teacher! Ms. Aileen Brennan was married on July 25th and is now Mrs. Hurley. Congratulations to the happy couple!

HOMEWORK CLUB:
It is anticipated that the homework club will recommence on Monday September 8th.

CROKE PARK:
Best wishes to Lisa Walsh (last year’s 6th Class) who will represent Laois in an exhibition match in Croke Park next Sunday at the All-Ireland semi-finals.
